How do you find a container’s history when a dispute starts with its number?

The container registry and the container card: dimensions, payload, ownership and lease, reefer, the CSC exam, the ISO 6346 check and the number that can no longer change.

If you haul containers, your unit of transport isn’t the trip, it’s the box. The client quotes a container number, and a dispute over a dent starts with that number.

So containers have their own registry. Each row shows where the box is now: on a mission or at the depot, and how many trips it has made.

The container card is its passport. On top, the same drawing as in the mission dossier. Dimensions, volume, tare and max gross weight, and the payload, worked out by the system.

Whose box it is: yours, leased, the shipping line’s or the shipper’s. If it’s leased, the off-hire date, with a countdown. The year it was built and its age. Its condition, from good to out of service.

A reefer shows its unit’s temperature range; a dry box has no such section. The CSC exam has a countdown too: overdue turns red.

The number is checked against ISO 6346: the check digit catches a typo at entry, not at the port. From the prefix, the form suggests a brand from your directory, but the choice is yours.

And the key limit: once a box has history, its number can no longer change. Otherwise its trips would silently become another box’s. And that history (trips, clients, seals, dates) is your defence in a dispute.

Weight, seals and free time belong to the trip: they live in the mission dossier. The card keeps the box’s passport and its whole life.

And for the budget: containers are included in the workspace’s base price.
